I’m sure most, if not all of you are aware that The Dolly Rockers are no longer a group. Lucie is living in New York and is working in the fashion industry, Daniele & Sophie are solo singers now. Sophie hasn’t really posted much relating to her plans, but Daniele has been recording and seems overall more active. She should be releasing a cover soon.

I’ve changed the site’s Tumblr into a fashion based theme (maybe a bit of personal and other will go into it), so the girls are still posted on there with their OOTD and such. The Twitter is now a personal Twitter, but still half tweeting (mainly) Daniele and Sophie’s careers. I support Lucie completely, and anything major I’ll post on Twitter and Tumblr, but I’m mainly interested in their music careers.

As far as DollyRockered.com, I’m going to leave this domain active for however long. You can still have access to the gallery and such. I’ll be following Sophie and Daniele’s careers. I have been a bit jaded with fansite work, but I’ve never been so supportive of anyone as I have been with The Dolly Rockers, so if one or both of the girls become really active then there’s a chance I’ll either continue posting on here for both of them or start a new fansite for one of them. For the time being, I’ll post on Twitter and Tumblr about them (provide download links to covers, etc.), just not exclusively. Tumblr | Twitter

Now to the good part.

I meant to get this up yesterday, but I realized I’m missing a couple of tracks (Wide Awake cover and performance of Love Strung). I tried to add them to the package, but I was unable to. I might try again later, but for now here’s the rest of what I have from The Dolly Rockers:

Why did you decide to come back?
There’s been a lineup change and one of the girls left. We auditioned for a new girl and found Daniele. So that was like three years ago, and now we felt ready to come back.

I think it’s going to be interesting. I don’t think they’ve probably had many people that have taken so long to come back, but we just watch it at home every year and we just think, ‘Oh my God, we’d love to be on that stage’.

We’ve been together three years, working on our vocals, dancing, doing gigs and stuff, and we just thought, ‘Let’s go on and see if they like us’.

And you’ve got a YouTube channel as well…
Yes, we started doing it a year ago, doing personality videos. We do this thing called Dolly Dares, which is just obviously, just like, people sending us in dares. It’s really embarrassing.

What’s an example of the most embarrassing thing you’ve had to do?
Have you seen the film Elf? So you know he’s never been on an escalator before and he’s really scared and he does like the splits? So we were dared to go on Oxford Street tube station at rush hour and do that. You have to watch the video, we’re basically doing the splits, not very well, screaming.

How would you describe your sound?
We’re sort of pop, but we like to keep it edgy. We write a lot of our lyrics and they are always very tongue in cheek. We’re best friends, we all do everything together so we write about holidays together.

Some are about boys and relationship experiences. You won’t really hear us singing a ballad, it’s more upbeat.

And if it is a ballad it will be a funny ballad about a boy who’s pissed you off and you want to get him back, or a boyfriend who’s turned gay or something. It’s got a bit of an edge to it. A naughty edge.

What would you do if one of the judges suggested that only one of you could go through as a solo artist?
That would be impossible. Really hard for us. Because we’ve been together for three years and we do everything together. We go on holiday together, we go out together, this is our friendship group so it’s not like we’ve just been together a couple of months and we’re like, ‘Well, you know, you win some, you lose some’. It would be heartbreaking.

It’s like us or… none of us.

Who do you think in the charts at the moment you could compare yourself to?
There isn’t a girl band like us. That’s why we feel we want to do it this year, because I think there is a massive gap with girl bands at the moment. You’ve got a couple, like Little Mix are doing really well now, but Girls Aloud are finished, Sugababes have kind of disappeared as well, there’s room for another one.

When we were younger there was Spice Girls, All Saints, B*Witched. Loads of them! So many!

Who would you want as your mentor?
We all want Nicole. She would be amazing.

She’s obviously been in a girl band, she’ll be like, ‘You’re not doing that in time’. She’s amazing.

Is this your first audition for the X Factor?
No, we appeared on the show in 2006 and we were really young, about sixteen years old. We had a different line-up at the time, we got to the judges’ houses but we just weren’t ready at all.

Now we’re back with a new member and we finally feel ready. We’ve been together for three years, working on our vocals, dancing, and doing gigs and stuff. We finally just thought let’s go on it and see if they like us.

What’s your musical style?
We do pop but we like to keep it edgy, so our lyrics are tongue-in-cheek and they’re about going on holiday together, nights out and just about us really.

When you did your first audition in the room, did you perform your own songs?
We did Beyoncé and one of our own. They liked our first song and they said our vocals and harmonies were good but the second they really got into. They thought it was really cool.

Who did you find to be the scariest judge?
Sharon scared me a little bit, but Gary said no to us so I’m going to have to say Gary. Sharon is just very blunt.

What did Sharon say to you?
Our feedback was that our harmonies sounded great, but there were no dance moves because we were so stiff and nervous. We didn’t expect to have nerves like that. We’ve done a few gigs recently but it’s completely different when you have a panel in front of you that you really admire and respect, so we just froze.

What would you do if the judges suggested that only one of you should go through as a solo artist?
That would never happen. We’ve been together for three years. We cannot be split. We do everything together, this is our friendship group and so we can’t be split. It’s us or nothing.

What if they suggested you add another girl?
We’ve thought about that and I think we’d go for it because they’re only suggesting what they think will make us better.

Can you compare yourself to anyone in the charts at the moment?
There isn’t a girl band like us and we think there’s a huge gap for us. Little Mix is doing really well but there aren’t many girl bands out there. Girls Aloud are finished and many others have too, so we think there’s room for us now.

Who would you like to collaborate with?
Well we love Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Macklemore would be amazing. A lot of our songs are very high energy and we sometimes incorporate a reggae rock vibe so Sean Paul would also be cool.

Who would you like to be your mentor?
Nicole, most definitely! She would be amazing for the whole girl power thing as well. Nicole has been in a girl band too so she can tell us if we’re out of time and everything. She’s been so passionate with her other candidates before. Also I like Sharon because she’s very fierce and that’s really what we stand for. I think she would bring the best out of us.

Back in 2006, teenage girls The Dolly Rockers got through to judges’ houses – but were turned away by Louis Walsh as they weren’t quite ‘ready’.

Now, with seven years’ experience and a change in line-up – original member Brooke Challinor has beeen replaced by Daniele Owen, 21 – they’re back.

‘We don’t think there are many acts that have taken so long to come back,’ says Lucie Kay, 24.

‘But we’ve watched the show every year and we’ve decided to go for it again.’

So what makes them stand out from the crowd?

Aside from amaze tunes (they write their own songs about boys, drinking, hols and, er, boys), they look like a ready-made band.

‘We love fashion,’ says Sophie King, 25.

‘We have a style blog and take photos of our outfits every day.

‘There isn’t a girl band like us.

‘Little Mix are doing well, but they’re much younger than us.’

Now has a bit of a girl crush!

Dolly Rockered Style

I’ve created a steal their style type blog on Tumblr. You’ll find where to buy exact and similar outfit pieces the girls have worn, inspired outfits for each member, makeup and beauty related posts, shop for less so you can still have a dolly rockered wardrobe at an affordable price, and much more! Please check it out, and give it a follow if you like what you see.

Also, here are the lyrics I wrote up to ‘One More’

One more kiss under the moon

One more, I don’t wanna leave too soon

One more, one more

Just give me one more drink

We own the night, the fire won’t burn out

‘Till we decide what you doin’ tonight, doin’ tonight

-, we party on the beach

Just you and me, what you doin’ tonight, doin’ tonight

Oh whoa

I’m drunk

Oh whoa

You’re drunk

Oh whoa

Love drunk

So pour me some more

One more kiss under the moon

One more, I don’t wanna leave too soon

One more, one more

Just give me one more drink

One more, party on the roof

Then we’ll sneak into my room

One more, one more

Just give me one more drink

Ooh whoa

Just give me one more drink

Ooh whoa

Just give me one more drink

You hypnotize me with your hungry eyes

I know the lies are working on me, working on me

If I could choose this high would never end

Do what you do cause it’s working on me, working on me

Oh whoa

I’m drunk

Oh whoa

You’re drunk

Oh whoa

Love drunk

So pour me some more

One more kiss under the moon

One more, I don’t wanna leave too soon

One more, one more

Just give me one more drink

One more, party on the roof

Then we’ll sneak into my room

One more, one more

Just give me one more drink

Ooh whoa

Just give me one more drink
Ooh whoa
Just give me one more drink

(Let’s go)

Fill up your cup

Put your hands up

Not gonna stop

Hey hey hey

Fill up your cup

Put your hands up

Not gonna stop

Hey hey hey

One more kiss under the moon

One more, I don’t wanna leave too soon

One more, one more

Just give me one more drink

One more, party on the roof

Then we’ll sneak into my room

One more, one more

Just give me one more drink

One more kiss under the moon

One more, I don’t wanna leave too soon

One more, one more

Just give me one more drink

One more, party on the roof

Then we’ll sneak into my room

One more, one more

Just give me one more drink

Ooh whoa
Just give me one more drink
Ooh whoa
Just give me one more drink

X FACTOR bosses are recycling acts again with no fewer than SIX solo wannabes and groups back on this year’s show.

All of them have already got through to at least the judges’ houses stage in previous series, TV Biz can reveal.

One returning act set to sail through to the live final is Rough Copy.

The soul and pop boy band were forced off the show last year after one of the trio, Nigerian-born Kazeem Ajobe, could not get a visa in time to travel to Vegas for Louis Walsh’s judges’ houses round.

They caused a storm at the auditions with a version of One Direction’s Little Things.

Another hopeful, Terry Winstanley, was last seen at Louis’s judges’ houses round in Barcelona in 2011. He impressed the judges with the Michael Bolton song When I’m Back On My Feet Again.

Irish singer Melanie McCabe is giving it her FOURTH attempt.

She flunked Kelly Rowland’s judges’ houses round in Miami in 2011 and failed to get past the boot camp round last year and in 2008.
Another of Kelly’s 2011 rejects, Scottish singer Jade Richards, is back for a THIRD stab at the prize.

Last year she failed to get past boot camp.

Girl group Dolly Rockers won through to boot camp at last week’s Wembley Arena try-outs, seven years after they made it to Louis Walsh’s judges’ houses round in Ireland.

And Essex girl Amy Mottram made it to Tulisa’s judges’ house last year but eventually lost out to Christopher Maloney.

A source said: “There have been so many recognisable faces on this year’s show it’s turned into something of a ‘best of the rejects’ special.

“It’ll be extremely frustrating to people not given the chance to see someone who has already had a crack at it go through again.”

But a show insider defended the move, saying: “We often say to people when they get the push at a late stage that they might need some more practice to get where they want to be.

“Twelve months is a long time to do that so they may well come back and be such a great singer they win.”

More Info | How to Get There

For the final part of its month-long ‘Capture Life Experience’ at London’s premier shopping destination for its all-new Captur crossover, we’re teaming up with Renault UK on Saturday 15th June to create a showpiece of musical entertainment and Capture Couture!

Inspired from each of Captur’s three customisable colour collections, Renault have partnered with different retail brands within Westfield W12 to bring Captur to life through the latest trends on high street fashion, recreating hand selected style collections representing Arizona, Miami and Manhattan.

Throughout the day Zara Martin; presenter, DJ, model and well-known fashionista, will be on hand to present the schedule of activity hosted in the main atrium. As resident presenter for Clothes Show Live and London Fashion Week, Zara will take to the stage to introduce each Captur Couture collection to the crowds.

Accompanying Zara, Renault have also enlisted the support of the feisty British Girl Band, Dolly Rockers and X Factor stars Times Red, due to launch their new single to the UK charts later this month. To celebrate the final weekend of their experiential activation, Renault are planning three high-impact and edgy choreographed routines; Midday, 3pm and 6pm to finish on a high.

Look forward to seeing you there!
